What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a focused therapy approach that uses eye position to help access and process places where trauma, anxiety, or stuck emotional patterns are held in the brain and body. It's often used alongside talk therapy to help you move through experiences that feel hard to put into words and can bring relief faster than traditional talk therapy alone for many clients.

I’m an Indonesian therapist specializing in couples work and LGBTQ+ clients. As a first-generation immigrant, I know firsthand what it’s like to grow up in a culture where emotions weren’t always openly discussed or encouraged, so trust me, I understand how awkward, unfamiliar, or even intimidating therapy can feel in the beginning.

My clinical foundation was shaped at the LGBTQ+ Center of OC, where I worked with trans youth, queer couples, and gay and lesbian individuals from diverse BIPOC communities. These experiences deeply influence how I show up in the room: with cultural sensitivity, curiosity, and a commitment to honoring every layer of identity you bring.

I’d describe my style as direct, integrative, and real. I bring warmth and humor into sessions when it feels right because therapy doesn’t have to be rigid or heavy all the time. Sometimes a moment of laughter is its own kind of healing.

Professional Bio

Sharenne Gozal, AMFT therapist specializing in LGBTQ therapy and Brainspotting

My goal is to create a space where you can show up fully messy feelings, hard conversations, relationship patterns, identity questions, and everything in between and feel supported as you make sense of the chapters you’re ready to rewrite.

Outside the therapy room, you’ll probably find me dancing to house music at a festival, pushing through a Lagree workout, or sipping on a banana matcha latte at home or at a café. I love adrenaline and adventure just as much as I love stillness, because balance, to me, is essential to self-care. Find me on Instagram @mindful.gozal

A phrase I carry from my culture is pelan-pelan saja—“take it slowly.” To me, healing isn’t a race. It’s a gentle returning to yourself, one step, one insight, one breath at a time.
